Maintenance quotes in India run from a few hundred rupees to tens of thousands a month. What you are actually paying for, and what a small site really needs.
Website maintenance is one of the most confusing costs a small business pays. Some owners pay every month for years and never see anything change. Others pay nothing and their site quietly breaks. The right amount depends on what your site is built on and how often it changes.
What maintenance usually covers
- Content changes: new prices, photos, hours or a paragraph rewritten.
- Software updates, for sites built on WordPress or a similar platform.
- Backups, so the site can be restored if something goes wrong.
- Uptime monitoring, so someone knows when the site is down.
- Security fixes and renewing the SSL certificate.

Why platform matters
A WordPress site with many plugins needs regular updates, and skipping them is how sites get hacked. That is real ongoing work. A static site has no plugins and no database, so there is far less to maintain. Most of what it needs is the occasional content change.
Pay for maintenance that matches the work. A small static site should not cost the same each month as a busy online store.

- Ask how many content changes are included each month.
- Ask for a monthly note of what was actually done.
- Check you can cancel, and that the domain stays in your name if you do.

In India, changes after launch are ₹2,000 for up to five updates, with no monthly fee, so a year with no changes costs nothing. If you would rather not think about it, the care plan is ₹999 a month and covers small content updates, uptime monitoring, backup checks and support inside one working day. You can cancel it any time, and most three page sites do not need it.
