How much does a static website cost in India?
Static websites are cheaper to run and faster to load. What one costs to build in India, what it costs every year after, and when you need something else.
A static website is a set of finished pages, built once and served as they are. There is no database working behind each visit, which is why static sites are fast, cheap to host and have very little to break. For most small businesses that only need to explain what they do and take enquiries, a static site is all they need.
What it costs to build
| Who builds it | Usual range | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Freelancer | ₹5,000 to ₹25,000 | Whether it is a template with your logo on it |
| Small studio | ₹10,000 to ₹40,000 | What is included, and who owns the domain |
| Agency | ₹25,000 to ₹80,000 | How much of the price is design and how much is overhead |
Most quotes are priced by the number of pages. A three page site and a fifteen page site are different jobs, so compare quotes for the same number of pages and the same features, not just the headline number.
What it costs every year
- Domain: roughly ₹700 to ₹1,200 a year for a .in or .com.
- Hosting: often free for a small static site, because static pages need so little.
- Changes: whatever your designer charges, since there is usually no admin panel.
The low running cost is the real saving. A static site can cost almost nothing a year to keep online.
The trade off
Static sites have no built in editor, so you cannot log in and change text yourself the way you can on WordPress. Updates go through whoever built the site, or through an editing panel added on top. If you change your content every day, that matters. If you change prices twice a year, it does not.
When static is the wrong choice
- You sell products online and need a cart, checkout and stock.
- Customers need to log in, such as a student or member portal.
- You publish new content every day and want to do it yourself.
What we charge
In India our launch website is ₹3,000 for three pages, the business website is ₹5,000 for eight pages, and the growth website is ₹8,000 for fifteen, all one time. Changes after launch are ₹2,000 for up to five. An editing panel can be added as a paid extra if you want to make changes yourself.
